This article is a Congressional Record that talks about on a debate that has happened in congress they have talked about Immigration reform and border security in 2006. They have argued that the U.S. should handle illegal immigrantion but while doing that also be able to protect national security. Their where some memebers from congress that have believed the country has stronger border enforcement before they had made changes in immigration laws. But others have supported a more legal pathway that is for immigrants that are already living in the U.S.
This article has been able to show how immigration laws in the U.S. has changed so much over time because of the policial disagreement and the issues they have about security and jobs. Many lawmakers have expresses the effects immigration could possibly have on american employees and the future for their country’s. But at the same time they also have saw that immigration has also been a main part of american history as well as culture. Overall this debate has shown many challenges that congress has to agree on for immigration reform to be able to also give opportunities for immigrants.
