My research question is about Immigration laws and how it has changed from 2000s to 2026. Some things I am trying to find out are why immigration has changed in bad ways but good ways? Also being able to see how and why the government made these changes what brought them to this decision on wanting to make these changes? But also, how have they affected people and their communitas that are immigrants as well. These are only a few questions I would like to understand more immigration laws have been changing for many years and have been affecting many families or communitas but also being able to see how people are able to stand up for their self is important as well. My topic is historical interpretation because it has focused mainly on the changes of laws and policies that have been increasing their changes over time to either help or not help people. As there are many laws that have been changing it’s not only being able to just name certain Bill act that they have changed but being able to understand the reasoning on the changes of these laws and what have caused them to have changed them. There are many policies and border security are some of the reasons on having a big part of the reason their changing immigration laws over the past 26 years and even longer than that as well. What also has made it a historical interpretation was how a lot of people have different opinions on immigration laws. There are so many people that either think they should possibly have stricter laws to be able to protect their country, but others might also think that laws should focus on being strict and being able to help immigrants. Overall, immigration laws will keep changing and it has a lot from the 2000s to 2026 which it has impacted so many people’s lives and families. Many people will have different opinions on the type of immigration laws there are on if they need to be stricter or it should be changed to help. The early 2000s to 2026 immigration laws in the U.S. have changed so much as the government as had challenges with trying to balance human rights and border security etc. Through Bill act, government documents, debates and even personal stories these primary sources will be able to show how immigration has been one of the main topics in having a lot of issues on what is important and how it has been affecting many Americans. I have 8 primary sources I choose these because each of these articles, bill acts and even interviews are able to show different types of impact it has made to families that immigrants. These primary sources are not only talking about one specific state or place these primary sources give detail on how different states and countries have been affected by changes in laws and how the reasoning behind them. A few of my primary sources are Bill act’s these are important because it is able to give a rundown on how these certain Bill acts have been processed and been made, another primary sources is a Homeland security act that talks about a program that was made for immigrant children to be able to get an education in the U.S. even though they were not born in the U.S. this article had stood out to me the most because as a young adult who is in college who also comes from first gen but seeing how two different types of immigrant family background could even effect your lives in different ways. A main reason for me for picking these eight primary sources have different in their own way as a few of them are official government documents which is able to show real changes in the laws and debates but also how they had been decided and who were the leaders that wanted these types of changes. But a few of my other sources are more personal experiences that people wanted to go out and be able to show their own experience and how their own lives had been affected by these types of changes in immigration laws by using all these sources that have their own quality’s to them from different point of views I am able to show different types of government views and the impact immigration laws have truly affected or even helped people in their own personal lives. In these primary sources they have not only been created during around the event has been accrued but being able to have it from people or even people who are involved with the issues that immigration laws have affected. One of the congressional records that had stood out to me was “Immigration law enforcement act of 2006” because it shows a lot of debates that immigration laws have had and the reasons behind these changes, It also stand out because this is an actual government document this was a moment that had accrued that someone didn’t have to rewrite it was in the moment which is able to not show or change things that have happened in history the actually moment of when it happened, who was there and how it happened as well. Another source that had stood out to me was “Supreme court to hear arguments over push to end TPS protection for migrants from Haiti” this was very interesting because it is more recent published article and talks about are president in 2026 and how Trump wanted to take an away an act that has been protected for hundreds of people lives. Being able to see differences in articles and congress recorders are interesting to see different viewpoints and how people have expresses issues as well. Overall, these primary sources will be able to give you old and new history about Immigration laws and the changes it has impacted people lives for better or for worse as there has been many changes through the years and these primary sources will be able to give you inside to what has been accruing for the last 26 years.
